I just completed my second week of my internship and I have to say it has been wonderful! The teacher and kids have already made such an impact on me, every morning I get in and before I even put my stuff away there's always the few that run over to me excited to show me their bell work, what they drew, and to hug me. It's really sweet that I have gotten to learn their morning routine, we start at the carpeting singing all different types of songs. The kids, get so excited the days we watch MooseTube, it's all silly, but educational songs. It's so fun when not only the kids, but even the teacher and I join in dancing. I have gotten to test kids, help out at the game centers (which are tied in with site words or math), learn how to make copies and laminate but best of all I have gotten the chance to start so many new relationships with some of the best kids and a really helpful teacher. It's only been a couple weeks but from day one everyone has made me feel welcomed and has allowed me to help in some way. I look forward to the next couple months.
I watched "Audri's Rube Goldberg Monster Trap Video" I thought Audri's video was very inspirational, towards the middle he makes an hypothesis saying that he'll only have a couple successes and ten to twenty failures. However, I like how that doesn't stop him from going ahead and creating his contraption to catch the monster. I think it really helps to realize you fail when you allow yourself to fail, you have the option to try again but it's up to you on if you take that option or not. You may not always succeed the first time, but you also won't have the chance to succeed unless you continue to try. At work it seems difficult to be able to concentrate and watch everyone at once, and I've wondered since I've been at my internship how she usually does this alone, but then to succeed I have watched different techniques she has used to get the kids to better understand and to better focus. Also, I have learned that she does have others there to help, and it's okay not to be able to do everything yourself. It doesn't always seem like it but chances are, there's always at least one person there to help.
